50 Cent to launch SK Energy Shots in Africa
Curtis Jackson, better known amongst pop culture junkies as hip hop musician “50 Cent,” has released a new energy drink and is targeting the African market with the aim of helping local entrepreneurs launch the beverage in their countries.
SK Energy Shots was developed by Jackson and entrepreneur Chris Clarke, CEO and Founder of Pure Growth Partners. Selected entrepreneurs will not only get to work closely with Jackson to learn firsthand the business vision and brand strategy, but they will also be given the sole right to sell the energy drink in that market.
There is even more altruism attached to this launch. Jackson says with the purchase of every energy shot, SK Energy provides a meal to a hungry child through the United Nations World Food Program (WFP). To date, SK Energy has funded over 3.5 million meals through the WFP.
“Everyone thought that we would expand immediately to Europe or South America,” said Jackson in a statement. “But if you know SK, you know the vision has always been to support my roots in Africa. Giving back to hungry children with every shot we sell is only part of the story. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel across Africa, and one thing I’ve learned is that it is filled with vibrant, young entrepreneurs who are eager to cultivate a sustainable business sector that will fuel growth for their future. That’s why I’m giving African entrepreneurs the chance to bring SK to their country.”
