NAS calls for de-centralization of Police
WARRI—The National Association of Seadogs, NAS, yesterday, called for the decentralization of the Nigerian Police Force and rated low, the 50th years Independence Anniversary of the country.
NAS said the over N9billion to be expended on the celebration was a huge waste, adding that Nigeria needs pragmatic and revolutionary approach to its political and economic problems, which had bedeviled the growth and development of the country.
It said that Nigeria as a nation has not achieve anything to celebrate, adding that rather than celebrate the 50th yearsof independence, the day should be used to reflect on the nation’s woes.
According to the National President, ‘Mr Oscar Egwuonwu, “NAS considered the N9.5bn purportedly earmarked for the celebration a waste of the tax payers’ money.
They organisation urged Nigeria leadership to embrace the tenets of true federalism and d0 away with its aggressive and fraudulent constitution imposed on the country by the military junta
