Ojoland gets Oba-elect
By Bose Adebayo
The Iloro Ruling House in Ojo Town in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State has nominated a civil servant, Prince Adeyemi Mufutau Ayilara as the Oba-elect of Ojo Land.
Making the declaration at the end of a special meeting by members of Iloro Ruling House, the Aro of Ojo land, Chief Semilu Gbadamosi who is also the Head of the Iloro Family stated that Ayilara was the unanimous choice of all members of the Ruling Family to become the next Olojo of Ojo land.
While appealing to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fasola, and the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Rotimi Agunloye, to discountenance any other contrary claim by any individual or group, Gbadamosi said: “Our ancestors are our witnesses that Prince Adeyemi Mufutau Ayilara, is the unanimous choice of the Ruling House and there is no opposition to his choice.
Ayilara may not be a money bag, but he is the one our ancestors have picked. We want our choice to be respected. We have only nominated Prince Ayilara; we have not declared him king. All powers and authorities to confirm him as a monarch lie with Governor Fashola but we humbly appeal to our peace- loving Governor that Prince Ayilara is our choice and all of us will be happy if his nomination by Iloro family is ratified by the Lagos State Government”.
While saying that due process was followed in picking Ayilara, Gbadamosi added that there was no opposition to his nomination.
Corroborating Gbadamosi’s position, the Apesin of Ojo land, Chief Atiku Gbadamosi said Ayilara’s nomination should be confirmed by the Lagos State Government as all members of the Iloro Ruling House believe that he is not only a vibrant, educated young man, but that he is also imbued with innate qualities that will transform Ojo land to greater heights if he becomes the monarch of Ojo land.
