HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR DESTINY BY DISCOVERING YOUR MENTOR

Faith is God’s power for man’s dominion on earth. Faith comes from your obedience to the word of God. The word of God is a package of principles and laws which demands strict obedience. One of such principles that guarantee your access to the faith realm is the principles of mentoring. Your access in faith and the value, depend largely on who you follow. Whom you choose to be is not an advice. It is a law. When you discover your gift, you must bring yourself under a mentor who will train you. Until you can locate the voice of those the lord has placed above, certain things remain unformed in your life. Samuel learned the voice of God from Eli. WHAT IS MENTORING? Mentoring is what you must go through under a master where you learn how to do right. Until you serve under a master, every self pioneering training is going to take you nowhere. Nothing is new under heaven. There is someone who is doing well in a similar assignment with you. Faith comes into ascendancy when you serve under such one. For every Elisha, there is an Elijah. For every David, there is a Samuel. For every Timothy, there is a Paul. I have many mentors, but there is a particular one, God chose for me and his words are laws to me. When I was called into ministry, in May 2nd, 1989, I had no idea of what my preaching assignment was. Two months after, the vision came in a prayer meeting in one of the clinics I used to visit. I was caught up in a trance. In a moment, I saw Pastor David Oyedepo, as we used to call him then. I was privileged to see the beauty of the anointing of God in the life of this great man of faith. In a moment, I heard a voice say to me you shall hear from him that thou mayest understand the vision and make it straight. Now as at this period, the ministry I had marked him as one we were not to listen to. What was their reason? They said he was not a holiness preacher. This insinuation almost destroyed the call of God in my life. Ironically, because of the conclusion of the power that be then, I did not take steps to hear from the man of God. All I knew was that he was in Kaduna and I could not go to Kaduna because of that. This cost me many years of pain that I cannot describe in this book. Your destiny is at the mercy of hoe you treat the mentors God has assigned to you. I was to discover later to my surprise that Doctor David O. Oyedepo started the Lagos outreach of Living Faith Church. A.k.a. Winners, in 1989. It meant that if I had obeyed God and took steps, I would not have suffered for too long. Praise be to God after many years of rising and falling, under “holiness preacher”, I found my way miraculously your faith tabernacle, to hear from the man I should have heard from ten years behind. As at the time of writing this book, I had not met Oyedepo one on one but the proof of my following in just two years cannot be compared with struggles of ten years. In my first meeting with him, peace of God has settled in my life ever since with such confidence that I cannot understand. The next meeting, I took all my family and off we went to faith tabernacle, the usual place where bishop Oyedepo would minister. That day, my wife who had suffered asthma for as long as I have known her was healed. Now before I began hearing from Bishop Oyedepo, my idea was to antagonize other people who are busy doing their own work of ministry. His teaching has changed the course of my ministry forever. This is my story, I hope you will learn from this. There is nothing that is destructive to your faith as a self pioneering attitude. Your destiny remains closed for as long as you refuse to be mentored. What you do not respect, you never receive. What you value is what increases your value. Dr David Oyedepo often says it like this: “your sense of value determines the flow of virtue”. The anointing you respect is the anointing that flows into your life and also grow in your life. Mentoring is one of the surest way to secure your destiny. The principle teaches you how to respect and serve great anointing from where you grow your own. We must realize early in life that anointing is both for building up and also for bringing down. The anointing you respect will build you up while the one you disrespect will definitely bring you down. Criticizing an anointed man of God will injure you in the school of faith and may even cost you your destiny. Do not die in silence and struggles. There is someone out there God has blessed to unlock your destiny. There is someone out there you must serve before you can be of service to God.
