How to make a Nominal Ledger Opening Balances on sage line 50

You need to enter an opening balance for each nominal account code that appears on your trial balance, including the Debtors and Creditors control accounts, the VAT on Sales and Purchases control accounts and your bank accounts. VAT Questions 1. The net VAT to be paid or reclaimed in Box 5 does not agree with the Net Total of my Tax Control Accounts, Why is this? 2. The total value of sales, excluding VAT (Box 6) does not agree with my Sales Daybooks. Why is this? 3. I have completed my Vat Return and sent in the figures to Customs And Excise. Since doing that, I have received several Purchase Invoices for that quarter. What happens now? 4. I ran my first VAT Return, and all of the figures were perfect. When I ran the next one, it shows all of this periods figures, plus the last periods. What have I done wrong? 5. I reversed a Bank Receipt using Error Corrections, but instead of Box 6 (Total Net Sales) on the VAT Return being reduced by the net value of the Bank Receipt, it stayed the same, and Box 7 (Total Net Purchases) increased by the same amount. I know Box 5 (the amount to be paid or claimed) is correct, but how do I correct Boxes 6 and 7? 6. I have done my VAT Return and everything was fine, but now when I go to post the Bank Payment I get a message saying that you cannot post Bank Transactions to a control account! How am I supposed to pay this bill? 7. What is the difference between zero rated transactions and exempt? 8. What are all the different VAT Codes for in my Sage program? 9. What happens if my VAT Quarter and my financial year end do not end at the same time?
