500 ex-primary school teachers lament unpaid N17bn in Oyo -
IBADAN—Over 500 retired primary school teachers in Oyo State, yesterday, marched through the streets of Ibadan, protesting unpaid outstanding gratuities and pensions estimated at N17 billion.
The ex-teachers, led by their chairman, Remi Babatunde, took to the streets after their congress held at the Agodi GRA, where they complained that they could no longer bear the hardship occasioned by the unpaid pensions.
The protesters, who acted under the auspices of National Association of Retired Primary School Teachers, said they retired from active service in July 2011, which coincided with assumption of office of the incumbent governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
They lamented that since then, the present administration had not paid any gratuity to them.
They also dismissed claims that their money was part of the N6.5 billion allegedly looted at Oyo State Local Government Pension Board between October 2010 and April 2011
