Standard procedures were followed during construction of Synagogue Church —Witness

LAGOS—The contractor that handled the collapsed building at the Synagogue Church of All Nations, yesterday, said that standard procedures were followed during construction of the structure. Testifying before Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, the coroner investigating the cause of the collapse church building, Mr Akingbola Fatiregun, who is the Managing Director of Hardrock Construction and Engineering Ltd, the company that built the collapsed building, insisted that materials supplied by church which included sand, cement, quarry and reinforcement for the construction were of the best quality anywhere in the world. But under cross-examination by Lagos State Government’s counsel, Mr Akingbolan Adeniran, the witness admitted that the collapsed building had no permit from the government. He, however, maintained that these two factors were not responsible for the collapse because there was no sign of stress in the building before it went down. Fatiregun in his evidence in chief, said that his company was contracted to supply the manpower and equipment for the six- storey building while the church opted to supply the materials for the building and that the architectural and structural design of the building were done by another firm which supervised the construction of the building by his company.
